Hi, I am a 1st year Ph.D. student in Computer Science and Engineering at POSTECH, where I also received my B.S. I work with Dr. Eunkyung Jo in the Health and Human-Computer Interaction (H2CI) Lab.
My research examines how people experience empathy with conversational AI and the role of interaction design in shaping it. Iām interested in the gap between what AI says and what it communicates ā and what that means for people in emotionally meaningful interactions. Feel free to reach out!
Research Projects
An end-to-end HCI research project ā from needfinding interviews to system design to a within-subjects user study ā examining how AI avatars can express empathy nonverbally in real time, and whether that shapes how supported users feel. Advised by Eunkyung Jo.
Developed a haptic system using tactile transducers to convey dance movements through vibration. Explored optimal mappings between separated music stems and tactile feedback through a user study. Advised by Seungmoon Choi.
Experiences
Built baseline digital twin systems for the Telepresence project, including a static 3D reconstruction pipeline with 3D Gaussian Splatting and a real-time 3D pose estimation system. Advised by Inseok Hwang.
Developed a two-stage API pipeline that extracts math problems from noisy exam papers via OCR, then filters handwritten annotations using LLM vision to store clean, structured results.
Built a Dockerized API bridging NVIDIA Audio2Face with the production tool, and implemented real-time blendshape-based lip-sync animation applied to 3D characters in Babylon.js.
Designed lighting and camera control features for a content creation tool, including procedural generation of lighting sequences and camera movements with customizable parameters and noise-based animation filters.
Built a VR maze navigation system using haptic feedback for directional guidance. Integrated A* pathfinding with tactile vest technology to provide intuitive wayfinding cues based on user head orientation. Advised by Seungmoon Choi.
